The RAD-ECDE grant was awarded to the University of Arizona Master’s in Special Education-Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher Preparation program. The project was established in 2024 and provides tuition support and living stipends for students interested in birth to 5 services for DHH children and their families. The focus of this grant project is to support the needs of Deaf Multilingual Learners in early intervention and preschool. Early intervention is an area where RAD-ECDE scholars can make a tremendous difference by serving families with DHH children and by meeting their varied needs. To do so, the project identifies applicants and students in the Master’s program who intend to become early intervention or preschool teachers and specialists.
RAD-ECDE scholars receive funding for full tuition, fees, and a living stipend. To foster scholars for future success, the project will provide mentoring and numerous opportunities for professional growth as well as academic, career, and professional development resources. Students funded through this grant will be required to complete field experiences in early intervention or early childhood settings. BIPOC, d/Deaf, and multilingual individuals who are interested in early intervention and/or early childhood education are encouraged to apply. Applicants must meet the admission requirements described here. Students funded through this federal grant will have a payback obligation of two years of teaching for every year of funding.
